COMBAT BRIGADE LEAVING IRAQ EARLIER THAN EXPECTED

By Black Power Staff

Hot off the Presses

The number of U.S. combat brigades in Iraq has been reduced as a result of dramatically lower violence there, said Pentagon officials.

Approximately 4,000 troops from the 101st Airborne Division have seen there scheduled withdrawal from the region accelerated. American commanders have stated that more brigades are needed to support a growing insurgency in Afghanistan. Those support forces and when they arrive will depend on further withdrawals from Iraq.

According to Pentagon officials, there have been lesser “security incidents” while the number of U.S. troop casualties have fallen to their lowest numbers in Iraq since July.
